High density, firm foam with a high gloss static resistant laminate bonded to the top*
*Sometimes the firmness of the rolls of foam I get in differs from what it is suppose to be and can be a little softer than normal. Currently the orange foam is the one that falls into this category. It is not as firm as the other foam this time around.
These come in packs of 6 pads, with 2 six inch long plastic strips included with each pack.
These are a little over 5/16" tall, 1 and 15/16 in length and in between 1/4" and 5/16" in width (9/32" to be exact, just like the original factory ones). They can be used as one piece pads in some carts. In others they will need to be cut in the middle. Otherwise they will not fit properly and the adhesive will fail in areas where there is a lot of stress put on the pad.
8 TRACK AVENUE “PEEL AND STICK”
8 TRACK FOAM PAD INSTRUCTIONS.
In a lot of carts you can use these as a one piece pad. But in some this pad must be cut down the middle like my drop in pads. Using a single edge scraper/razor blade to make the cut, and an old intact foam pad as a guide works well.
The adhesive on the bottom of these pads sticks REALLY well. So when attaching the plastic strip, be sure you have things lined up as straight as you can before pressing down!
Once you have attached the plastic strip, simply cut the strip at the edge of the pad with a pair of scissors. Each strip is long enough to do 3 pads. You can reuse the plastic strips from the old pads that have turned to dust or goo. But you will need to completely clean off all of the old adhesive residue. Or these will not stick properly. The easiest thing to do in that situation is clean off the top layer of grime from the strip. And flip it over and attach this pad to the clean side.
Cut a slit in the middle using a scraper/razor blade and an old intact pad as a guide to get the cut as centered as possible. Using the old pad as a guide, center the blade on the top of the peel and stick pad. And push down to make the cut in the top laminate. You may need to do some additional clean up with the blade as sometimes the laminate/foam doesn’t make a clean cut the first time around.
