It's been awhile since I did an update on here. 8 Track and some Broadcast Cart foam pads are now avaible in a variety of new colors. Including blue, orange, green and purple. Though I may discontinue the purple in favor of a plum colored foam. The new foam colors have been very popular. For 8 tracks these are avaible in either regular or anti-static. A great way to sample the regular foam pads is the "Groovy" 8 track repair kit I now sell. It has all the colors in it. Customers have been having a lot of fun with these. Some are even requesting certain colors when I repair their tapes for them. As the foam color is a great way to instantly know if a tape in their collection has been tuned up.
I do plan on doing some fun, limited edition, season themed 8 track repair kits soon. One for Fall, one for Halloween and one for Christmas.
As time allows, I have been making new 8 track repair videos for my YouTube channel. I had gotten away from doing that for several years. Lately though when I'm doing a repair job and something comes up that I think others may also have an issue with. I try to setup the camera and do a short video (or in some cases a long winded one).
I'm no longer 100% happy with the quality of the felt I've been able to get for the cassette pads. So as time and money allow, I have been experimenting with some new, different kinds of felt. I found one that I absolutely love. It is a little harder for me to cut. But I feel I can make a better quality pad with it. It is a more dense felt. Cuts cleanly. But is soft to the touch. Honestly you won't be able to tell these from the originals. Available colors once I get these up and running will be off white and brown. And a limited dark gold color (it looked rust on my screen but it wasn't, oh well). And as always if you prefer the the felt I sell now, that will still always be an option for you.
Repair jobs are starting to pile up (its that time of year again already!). So as of this Blog post September is pretty much full. So most jobs sent to me now that are more than a couple of tapes will most likely be up on the work bench sometime in October.
