Bring those cassette tapes with disintegrated foam/felt combo pads back to life with these replacements.  These are designed for the carts that did not have the metal spring with the felt attached (please  look closely at the pictures).
 
If you have a cassette that uses the copper pressure spring and felt pad the the spring is damaged, or the pad is that horrible rubber/cork type and you want to replace it.  These will work if there is a metal plate below the copper pressure spring (again look closely at the pics and you will see that metal plate) and you REMOVE the copper pressure spring with a pair of pliers or tweezers.  I commonly do this on commercial tapes that have a sealed shell and a pad that is way to stiff and is not going to come off the pressure spring.  As long as there is that metal plate beneath it to stick these pads onto.
 
Your choice of 3 colors.  Each pad is 3/16" Thick, 1/4" Wide, 5/16" Long.    These come attached to a strip of Kraft paper.  Peel one off and carefully stick it where the old foam pad was.  You will need to clean all the residue of the old pad out of the cart, otherwise these won't stick well (in some cases you may need to put a drop of Krazy Glue in the area the old pad was if there is still alot of residue left.  It can be really hard to get it all out).
